1.0 - Getting Started with HighGround
Welcome to HighGround! We’ve built our knowledge base around the core modules of the platform to give you clear, actionable instructions for each part of your account. While we’ve got plenty of articles breaking things down, none of that matters if you’re not set up properly from the start. So let’s make sure you hit the ground running—after all, a great cybersecurity strategy starts with knowing where to click.
2.0 - Creating your account
First things first - you need an account. (Obvious? Yes. Important? Also yes.)
Head over to our sign up page and follow the steps to create your account it’s as simple as clicking some buttons, filling in some details, and resisting the urge to use "password123." To learn more about creating your account read our Creating your HighGround account article.
3.0 - Integrations
If you’re using a PSA or RMM tool in your MSP , you can hook those right into HighGround. Once connected, we’ll automatically pull in your data and get it ready for you to map.
When you connect your PSA, we’ll import key info like members, assets, products, and spend—so you’re not stuck re-entering anything manually. Your existing tools do the heavy lifting, and HighGround makes it easy to turn that data into insight.
To learn more about this read our Connecting your PSA to HighGround article or our Connecting your RMM to HighGround article.
4.0 - Invite your Team
Once you’re in, you might want to invite your team mates -because cybersecurity is a team sport, and it’s no fun going solo. HighGround lets you employees to your account and assign them roles that determine what they can access. To learn more about this, read our Understanding member access roles article.
But wait—there’s more! If your clients have a premium license, you can give them access to certain parts of your HighGround account. This gives them insight into their cybersecurity status without overwhelming them with all the technical magic you’re doing behind the scenes. To learn more about this read our Understanding client access roles article.
5.0 - Build your Security Stack
Your security stack is the backbone of everything you do as an MSP—and in HighGround, it’s no different. A well-optimized security stack isn’t just about having great tools; it’s about efficiency. Keeping your stack lean helps you reduce hard costs (licensing, provisioning, etc.), streamline operations, and lower your service delivery costs.
In HighGround, your security stack does a lot of heavy lifting. You’ll map it to client security needs, integrate it into your security services, package it up in the Sell module, and more. The best part? We’ve made building your security stack a clear and straightforward process—so no more spreadsheets from the depths of IT hell.
To learn ore about this read our Building your security stack article.
6.0 - Create your Security Services
Think of security services as the individual Lego bricks that build up your security packages. Each one represents a specific security component, linked to your tools, and includes all the associated costs (because let’s be real—every click in cybersecurity has a price tag).
Every service you create is aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, ensuring your clients can actually see how your security offerings fit together and improve their overall security posture.
The flexibility of security services is what makes them so powerful. They can be as simple as Email Protection or as comprehensive as a fully managed security package. Whether you’re offering a single service or bundling them into an all-in-one solution, HighGround makes it easy.
To learn more about security services read our Building your security services article.
6.1 - Security Packages
One of HighGround’s key strengths is letting you build and sell security packages directly from your account. But we’re not just handing you a shopping cart and wishing you luck—we’ve designed our Security Packages to be clear, visually powerful, and client-friendly.
By aligning with NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 (aka the “grandfather” of cybersecurity frameworks), we ensure that your security packages aren’t just easy to understand—they come with credibility baked in. Clients will have confidence that your offerings are structured, robust, and backed by industry best practices.
Plus, we’ve incorporated KPIs and visualizations that make sense to your clients—so no more blank stares when you explain why security matters.
To learn more about KPI'S in HighGround read our Understanding the HighGround cyber KPS's article.

6.2 - Products
In HighGround, Products are the building blocks that power your Security Services and Security Packages. They’re also what make up your clients’ Technology Spend dashboard, ensuring you have full visibility into costs, usage, and how your security stack fits into the bigger picture.
Each product comes with an associated cost and is typically linked to the tools in your security stack—so you always know where your investments are going. To manage your products in HighGround, simply navigate to "Sell" in the top menu, then click "Products" in the left-hand menu.
7.0 - Present your Security Packages to Clients and Prospects
At the end of the day, Security Packages aren’t just about cybersecurity—they’re about business. This is where your hard work translates into revenue, all while helping clients strengthen their security posture (and finally ending their confusion about what they’re paying for).
These packages don’t just boost your clients' cybersecurity; they serve as a clear, visual roadmap, showing them exactly what they’re getting for their investment. No more guessing, no more vague service descriptions—just transparent, effective security solutions that sell themselves.
To learn more about putting your packages to use read our How to use your packages with clients and prospects article.
8.0 - Technology Spend
Your clients pour a lot of money into technology—chances are, it’s one of the biggest line items on their P&L. And honestly, that makes sense. Most businesses today can’t function without reliable IT. From email and apps to telecoms, connectivity, security, and the IT support that holds it all together—it stacks up fast.
But here’s the kicker: most clients have no idea where all that money actually goes. To them, it’s just a big, scary number—and it feels like they’re always being asked to spend more.
That’s where you (and HighGround) come in.
With HighGround, you can give your clients real clarity around their tech spend by:
Breaking it down by category – Cybersecurity, IT support, Microsoft 365, connectivity, etc.
Showing exactly what their spend with you covers – so they can see the value, not just the invoice.
Comparing spend across all providers – highlight what they spend with you vs. others.
This level of visibility opens the door to smarter, more strategic conversations. You can identify where they might save money (like consolidating services with you), and where they actually need to invest to improve performance or security.
And the cherry on top? HighGround links their technology spend directly to their security posture—so you can show the relationship between investment in cyber and the strength of their defenses. Suddenly, that line item on the P&L has a whole lot more context—and a whole lot more value.

9.0 - Client Reports
The Client Report is a powerful tool that helps you present a clear, concise summary of your client’s cybersecurity posture. It’s designed to make complex information easy to understand, whether you're speaking with an existing client or a prospective one.
With the Client Report, you can effectively highlight:
Strengths in their current security setup – Areas where their cybersecurity posture is solid.
Opportunities for improvement – Gaps or vulnerabilities that need attention.
Missing or incomplete information – Areas where further details are needed to fully assess their risk.
An overview of their IT assets – A snapshot of what’s being monitored and protected.
User and device-related security issues – Specific findings tied to people and endpoints.
Recommended actions – Clear next steps, both for you as the provider and for your client.
Your suggested security package – A tailored solution based on their current risk and needs.
An alternative package – Offering flexibility based on budget or priorities.
The report provides a structured foundation for strategic conversations, helping you guide clients toward stronger, more resilient security outcomes.
