1.0 - Introduction
Every company in HighGround - whether it’s a client or a prospect - has a license applied to it.
Want to know what type of license is in play, or how to check which one your companies are using? This article breaks down the different license types and shows you exactly where to find that info.
2.0 - License Types
In HighGround, there are three license types, and each one directly determines the company type — helping you avoid any accidental mismatches when creating new entries.
Here’s a quick rundown of each license type and what it means:
Prospect License: This is the only license type available for prospects.
When selected, the company will be created with the type Prospect.
Standard License: This is the default license type for most clients.
It creates the company as a Client in HighGround and enables all core features and reporting.
💡 Tip: If you're not sure which license to use, start with Standard — you can always upgrade later.
Premium License: This is for clients who will actively use HighGround themselves — like logging in, reviewing alerts, or managing their cybersecurity posture directly.
This license enables client-facing features, including user access to the HighGround platform.
Each license type is designed to match the client's relationship with your service — from potential lead to fully engaged customer. Choose wisely, but don’t stress — you can change it later if needed.
3.0 - Finding the License type applied to a company

(This column is visible by default, so no digging required.)

On the left-hand menu, click Dashboard (this is the default view).
You'll see the license type clearly listed in the License block at the top of the page.

4.0 - Changing a company type and/or license
In HighGround, company types and licenses are closely linked — this helps prevent mix-ups like applying a client license to a prospect (or vice versa). But don’t worry — if you ever need to make a change, it’s easy to do from the client’s settings.
Here’s how:
Click Companies from the top navigation menu.
Find and click on the company you want to update.
Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner to open the options menu.
Select Company Settings.
Scroll down to the License row.
Use the dropdown menu to select a new license.
