Linking Products to Tools in your Stack

Written by Sophie Lamb

1.0 Introduction

In this article, we’ll walk you through how to link your tools in HighGround to the products configured in your PSA. This is where HighGround really starts to earn its keep. By connecting the tools you manage to the products you actually sell, you’re giving the platform the context it needs to do the heavy lifting for you. Instead of manually piecing together who has what, HighGround can automatically map your customers’ existing setups and highlight gaps or opportunities.

The result? Smarter, faster, and far more meaningful security reviews. You’ll be able to clearly see what’s already in place, what’s missing, and where you can add value - without digging through spreadsheets or second-guessing your data.

2.0 - Why link tools to PSA Products?

Linking your tools to PSA products is what brings everything together - it bridges the gap between:

  • Your technical stack (the tools you deploy and manage)

  • Your commercial offering (the products and packages you actually sell)

Think of it like giving HighGround a translator between what your engineers do and what your customers are paying for.

A quick example

Let’s say you offer a managed service package like Business Care.

Behind the scenes, that package likely includes a mix of tools - monitoring, endpoint security, backup, maybe a bit of everything that keeps your customers safe and supported.

By linking those tools to the Business Care product in your PSA, you’re effectively telling HighGround:

“If a customer has this product, they should also have these tools.”

No guesswork. No assumptions. Just clean, reliable mapping.

Why this matters

Once everything is linked, HighGround can start making smarter decisions on your behalf. This becomes especially valuable during:

  • Customer security reviews – Instantly understand what’s in place versus what should be in place

  • Tool recommendations – Suggest relevant improvements based on real gaps, not generic advice

  • Gap analysis – Quickly spot missing tools, misalignments, or upsell opportunities

In short, you’re turning static PSA data into something actionable - giving you clearer insights, better conversations with customers, and a much more streamlined review process.

3.0 - Adding your products

Linking a tool to a PSA product is quick and straightforward:

  1. Open a tool in HighGround (for example, Augment)

  2. Head over to the My Products tab

Once you’re in, you’ll notice something straight away:

  • Any associated licences are already listed here

That’s because, in HighGround, licences are treated as products. So if something already exists in your PSA, there’s a good chance it’s already showing - no extra setup needed.

This tab is your control centre for managing the relationship between your tools and the products in your PSA.

What you can do from here

From the My Products tab, you’ve got two main options:

  • Link the tool to an existing product from your PSA

  • Or link it to a product you’ve created manually in the Packages module

Tip: haven't checked out the packages module yet? To learn more please read our Understanding Packages article.

A quick example

Let’s say you’ve got a product in your PSA called:

Business Care Plus for Apple Mac

To link it:

  1. Select the product from the list

  2. Link it to the tool

  3. Click Save

And you’re done. No hidden steps, no syncing delays - the relationship is now in place and ready to power your reporting, reviews, and recommendations.

Nice and easy - just how it should be.

3.1 - Adding additional product info

When linking a tool to a product, you’re not just creating a connection - you’ve also got the option to layer in additional detail to make that relationship even more useful.

You can enrich your product with information such as:

  • SKU

  • Category and subcategory

  • Supplier

  • Manufacturer

  • Billing period

  • Unit type (e.g. per user, per device)

Think of this as adding a bit more structure behind the scenes. It might seem like small details, but they go a long way in keeping your data clean, consistent, and easier to work with - especially as your product catalogue grows.

A quick note

If the product you’re linking is a licence, you might notice that some fields (like SKU) are already locked. That’s expected behaviour - these values are typically pulled directly from your PSA and can’t be edited within HighGround.

Why it’s worth doing

Adding this extra information isn’t always required, so you can absolutely keep things lightweight if you prefer. That said, taking a few extra seconds to fill in these fields can really pay off when it comes to:

  • Reporting accuracy

  • Consistency across tools and products

  • Clearer insights during reviews and audits

In short, the more context you give HighGround, the smarter and more reliable your outputs will be -making life that little bit easier when you’re deep in a customer review.
